StockSnap — Privacy Policy

Overview

StockSnap is a Shopify Point of Sale (POS) app that helps merchants count, receive, remove, and transfer inventory directly from a POS device. This policy explains what data StockSnap accesses from your Shopify store, what it stores, and how it's used. StockSnap does not access customer data, order data, or any personal information about your shoppers — it only works with product and inventory records.

What data we access

StockSnap requests the following Shopify Admin API access scopes:

read_products	Looking up product and variant details (title, SKU, image) when you search or scan a barcode
read_inventory	Reading current stock levels for a variant at a location
write_inventory	Writing new stock levels when you complete a Stock Take, Receiving, or Removal
read_locations	Listing your store's locations so you can pick where a count or transfer applies
read_markets_home	Reading basic store/market info used to render the app correctly
read_metaobjects	Reading saved app settings and stock take / receiving / removal / transfer reports
write_metaobjects	Saving app settings and reports as metaobjects on your own store
write_inventory_transfers	Creating inventory transfers between your locations
write_inventory_shipments	Marking transfer shipments as sent

Notably absent: StockSnap does not request any order, customer, or fulfillment scopes. It cannot read your customers' names, emails, addresses, or order history, and it never needs to.

What we store

Most of StockSnap's data lives directly on your own Shopify store, not in a separate database:

App settings (e.g. variant display preferences) are stored as a metaobject on your store.
Stock take, receiving, removal, and transfer reports are stored as metaobjects on your store — this is the same data that powers the Reports section inside the app, and it stays yours if you ever uninstall StockSnap.

Separately, StockSnap's own hosting infrastructure stores only what's needed to keep your app session working:

Your shop's .myshopify.com domain
An access token used to make authorized API calls to your store on your behalf
Session information needed for the embedded admin app to stay logged in

We do not store product data, inventory counts, or report contents in our own database — those live in your Shopify store's metaobjects, as described above.

How we use it

The data StockSnap accesses is used solely to provide the app's core functionality: showing you accurate product and inventory information, letting you record stock counts and adjustments, and writing those changes back to Shopify. We do not sell, rent, or share your store's data with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising or analytics unrelated to operating the app.

Data retention and deletion

If you uninstall StockSnap, Shopify automatically revokes our access token, and we delete the corresponding shop record (domain, token, and session data) from our hosting infrastructure. Reports and settings stored as metaobjects on your store remain yours and are unaffected by uninstalling the app, since they live in your store's own data rather than ours.
